Star Wars: The Clone Wars

These past two years have been amazing for the Star Wars franchise. We’ve had the privilege of getting tons of new content like The Mandalorian, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, and the Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order video game. Whether you like all the new content or not is a conversation for another time. But now, with the official trailer and release date announcement of the final season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, there’s absolutely no debate that this has got Star Wars fans more excited than they’ve been in a long time.

The Clone Wars was canceled in 2013 after five seasons and since then, fans have been clamoring for a continuation of the beloved series. Well, it’s finally here and the trailer for the final season looks nothing short of epic.

Amazingly, the trailer is voiced by Darth Maul of all people and also shows the progression of key characters like Anakin as he inches ever closer to the Dark Side and Ahsoka Tano’s growth both physically and as a person.

In the trailer, we see a faceoff between Darth Maul and Ahsoka as they both ignite their lightsabers for battle. I think most fans would agree when I say that this duel is probably the moment that we’re most looking forward to. Kind of like the reunion between Anakin as Darth Vader and Ahsoka in Star Wars Rebels. Though of course, not nearly as emotional but still pretty badass.

Based on the trailer, this season seems to be focused primarily on Darth Maul, Ahsoka Tano, Anakin Skywalker, and to a probably lesser degree Obi-Wan Kenobi. We also see the return of Bo-Katan Kryze who if you remember, was second in command of the Mandalorian group Death Watch. She left with a group of Mandalorian loyalists when Darth Maul killed Pre Vizsla in a duel to claim his place as leader of Death Watch.

Twelve new episodes of Star Wars: The Clone Wars Final Season will premiere on Disney+ beginning February 21.
