Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot

With the release of the new upcoming DBZ game, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot coming up in just under two weeks, Bandai Namco has released a TV style trailer that has been dubbed “This Time on Dragon Ball Z” which, if you’ve watched the anime before, is definitely a fitting name to say to least. The game has been confirmed for release on January 17, 2020 so until then, fans can get a better idea of what to expect with this trailer.

The trailer shows a couple of notable characters such as Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Cell, Krillin, Piccolo, Trunks, Yamcha, and Tien. There are also some other familiar faces in villains like Raditz, Cell, Frieza, and Majin Buu. And let’s not forget about the side characters! We also get to see Android 16, Android 17, Bulma, Master Roshi, Kami-sama, Chiaotzu, Videl, and Mr. Satan.

Based on the gameplay footage, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot seems to be more of an open-world experience compared to games like Dragon Ball Fighter Z that are more or less just pure fighting games. For example, the trailer showed clips where you can fly around and explore the world using Goku’s Flying Nimbus in addition to fishing, eating, and training.

The story mode also seems to be quite true to the original anime as there were a lot of familiar scenes taken straight from the anime itself. So playing through the story mode would be a great experience for anyone who wants to relive the story of Dragon Ball Z firsthand.

Overall, from what I can tell Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot looks like a super fun game with lots and lots of nostalgia. Being able to play through the original story rather than simply watching it is already a whole new experience in and of itself.
