The Last of Us Part II
After nearly three years of waiting, it’s finally here! Following the initial announcement The Last of Us Part II at the PlayStation Experience event in December 2016, fans of the first game have been waiting in eager anticipation for the sequel. The new trailer sets the stage for the premise of the story followed by riveting plot developments and intense combat gameplay.
Although the trailer was nothing short of spectacular, I just have one gripe with it. It revealed a little bit too much of the story for my liking. Although, one thing I will say for certain, is that this trailer doesn’t fail in the slightest to deliver the highest level of hype possible.
The Last of Us Part II seems to follow in the same path from where Part I left off in the sense that the main enemies in this game are fellow humans rather than the Infected. The trailer shows Ellie getting separated from her girlfriend due to a series of mishaps. Ellie tracks her down to a cabin where, though not shown, we can assume she was captured and gunned down in front of her eyes.
What follows is basically Ellie going full John Wick which is pretty badass. The trailer shows her fighting like a demon possessed, taking down people, Infected, and even dogs in every which way. Uncle Tommy makes a quick appearance and tries to talk her out of it but to no avail.
Then… Joel shows up. That’s right, he’s alive and well and ready to come to Ellie’s aid when the chips are down. This was definitely the highlight of the trailer for me. I legit got chills the moment his hand reached out to cover Ellie’s mouth. And when he said that line, it was just so reassuring because it meant that Ellie wouldn’t be in this alone anymore.
The Last of Us Part II has been confirmed for release on PlayStation 4 on February 21, 2020. You can pre-order your copy of the game here.
